Path Monitor System BrochureSYSTEM OVERVIEW
With a computer (Notebook, desktop or rack mount) running Signalcrafters Path Monitor Software you can test a Lease line. The computer's com port connects to the Model 5493A-M DTMF modem card which encodes and decodes the DTMF information from the communications line and ACSII RS-232 information from the computer. The appropriate number of Model 2452 relay cards are also connected to the DTMF modem and the communications lines, depending on the number of communications lines are to be tested (2-wire line needs 2 relay / 4-wire line needs 4 relay). At each remote site there is a Model 5212A-M Loopback Module and a Model 6000 power supply if needed.TESTING
When a test is initiated the Signalcrafters Path Monitor Software will instruct the Model 5493A-M DTMF modem to operate the relays for a particular communications line. The relays switch the customer's equipment off the communications line and connect the Model 5493A-M DTMF modem to the communications line. The Signalcrafters Path Monitor Software sends a command to the remote sites Model 5212A-M, to see if it is on. When the remote site acknowledge is received, the Signalcrafters Path Monitor Software start the first test (Outbound communications test). The Model 5493A-M will send out 12 tones one after the other to test the communications line. The remote site will measure these tones and send the information back to the Signalcrafters Path Monitor Software for viewing, storage or printing. Next a noise measurement is made with no tones on the line. The final test, (Inbound communications test) the remote site sends the 12 tones one after the other to the Signalcrafters Path Monitor Software.
